Death Penalty

Should the Death Penalty be Allowed

YES

  1. Only for the worst of the worse
  2.  If it is requested
  3. Depends on what they are in jail for
  4. As long as it is done humanely
  5.  Certain ways
  6.  They killed innocent people
  7.  It is just
  8.  No redemption
  9.  Let the punishment fit the crime
  10.  Taxpayers have to pay to keep a murderer in prison

NO

  1.  Inhumane
  2.  Unfair
  3.  Violates the 8th amendment
  4.  Ultimate denial of human rights
  5. More serve than life in prison
  6.  Killing is wrong
  7.  No one has the right to take someone elses life
  8.  A life always has worth
  9.  Morally wrong
  10.  It is a form of cruel and unusual punishment

In my opinion the death penalty should be allowed in some cases. I don't believe someone who goes to prison for fraud should be given the death penalty. If someone rapes kids or something like that they should not be given a second chance and should be put to death. That is how I feel about the death penalty.

Should Students be Allowed to Carry Guns on School Campuses

 YES

  1. Self-Defense
  2. In case someone who doesn't go                                                                                                      to the school shows up with a gun                                                                                                   and starts shooting the students can                                                                                                take him out before he takes them out
  3. Someone could be a hero
  4. Less crime on campuses
  5. Help people
  6. Criminals fear an armed victim more                                                                                               than suspension
  7. Protection
  8. Less fights
  9. Has been used at a bunch of colleges and                                                                                         nothing has ever happened
  10. Safety
NO

  1. Drugs
  2. Alcohol
  3. Psychos
  4. No common sense
  5. Immaturity
  6. No gun skills
  7. Training course is only a day or less long
  8. If there is a fight it could end very bad
  9. Guns don't kill people, people kill people
  10. If someone shoots you won't know who shot because everybody has a gun

I think guns should be allowed on college campuses. As long as they are concealed I would have no problem with it. The only other reason I would allow guns is if the mentally ill are not allowed to carry one. I think allowing students to carry guns on campuses is a good idea.

Bill

Ryan House                         Gun Control Bill                         9/27/12

Good morning I am U.S. Senator Ryan House. Now a major problem in our country are how strict the gun control laws are. If everyone above a certain age was allowed to carry a gun on them in certain areas like NYC, LA, and other major cities in the U.S. where crime rates are high.  The bill I am about to introduce to you will make the gun control laws less strict. Some key points of this bill are:

1.    You have to be above the age of 21

2.    You must have proof of I.D.

3.    You must have written consent from the sheriff of your local police station and you must carry it with you

4.    No gun above a Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum

5.    Make sure the gun is legal

This is only some of the criteria that will allow you to carry a gun with you. I hope to have this bill passed by Jan. 21,2013.

I feel the same way because I don't get full from the lunches at our school either. I don't know why they give us such small lunches. There are a lot of big kids at our school that need more food to fill them up. I think we should get bigger lunches too.

Social Issue Letter

Dear CNN,

My friends and I think the gun control laws are too strict. We think if you are driving through heavily populated area with a lot of gangs you should be able to carry a gun without a permit and not get in trouble with the cops if they see you carrying it with you.
The reason we think gun control laws are too strict is because one time we were in New York City and we got mugged by a couple guys with guns and so we all said the next time we come to NYC or any other big city we would all bring a handgun for self defense if that ever happened again.
So the next time we took a trip we went to L.A. and we all brought a gun and we got pulled over by the cops for doing something we got a huge fine and they confiscated our guns. We told them the story about when we were in New York and said they were only for self defense. They still didn't believe us.
They told us we had to each have a permit to carry the guns on us. So when got back home we all got permits that would allow us to carry them with us where ever we go.

                                                                                                                     Sincerely,
                                                                                                                             Ryan House

I think it would be a good idea to remove junk food from schools. At our school we don't have junk food here anyway so it wouldn't affect me if they took the junk food out of other schools.

I think it is about time Obama used what Mitt Romney said against him. He shouldn't have said what he said or atleast not the way he said it. I knew Obama would use it against him eventually but i just didn't know when. I think it will help Obama out a lot in his campaign.

Civics Assignment 9/19/12

2.  Research the first ammendment and the right to privacy....name five parts of the first amendment. Freedom of speech, religion, press, the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and the right to petition the government
3.  Examine how much privacy one has in the digital age we live. Write a paragraph. Most people think that just because they use computers to do things they will be more secure. But in my opinion your privacy is more vulnerable online because of hackers and other people like that.
4.  Research the patriot act and summarize it in a paragraph. The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act (USA PATRIOT Act) does exactly what it says it does. They use different tools to detect and stop terrorism. This act was passed in 2001 after 9/11. In my opinion it was a good idea although they should have done it sooner.
5.  Write a paragraph detailing if the patriot act is a violation of the first amendment. In my opinion it is not a violation of the first amendment. The Patriot Act was created to keep Americans safe from terrorism so how would that be a violation of the first amendment.
6.  Find a news article and copy and paste the link where you feel the person uses their privacy as an "excuse" to get away with something.
7.  Find a news article and copy and paste the link where you fee a person's privacy was not protected.

I don't think the video should have been posted regardless of whether or not it was making fun of the Muslims. Obviously it didn't matter if it was or not because people still got killed because of it.

Everybody makes mistakes but I don't thnk anybody should have overreacted about it even if it was about the video. Since it wasn't about the video it makes it even worse but what's done is done.

I don't think the mayor should be able to ban soda. It is the people's decision on whetheror not they want to drink soda. It might be bad for them but it is still thier choice.

I don't really know how good or bad of job Obama is doing because I don't follow politics so I don't know if he is better or worse president than past presidents that we had.

I think cops and SWAT teams or anybody in any type of law enforcement should be able to have and carry assault rifles but civilians shouldn't be able to because they would probably do something stupid with and get themselves in trouble and get arrested.

I think this is a good idea because if they fingerprint visitors they can see if they have a criminal record and if they do the prison can see what it was for and can decide if they want to let them in.

I think this is stupid. Why would parents put 3-20$ under a pillow for a tooth. That is just a waste of money. However, it was good for the kids but the parents who put the money under the pillow are stupid.
